The short film "Yaya - a life" is based on the tragic fate of the girl Yagmur, who died in 2013 due to abuse by her mother, although the family was supervised by the youth welfare office since the birth of the daughter. The film shows how the girl's life could have been.

The film will then be shown in December at the annual award ceremony for the Yagmur Memorial Foundation's "Civil Courage in Child Protection" award at Hamburg City Hall, as well as on social media.

Because the filmmakers cannot trace the exact life of Yagmur due to personal rights, the film is based only on her fate. "We are not allowed to mention her in words or pictures," explains filmmaker Müller-Elsner. That is why the name "Yaya" was chosen for the film's title, as it is said to have been the girl's nickname.
