Carte blanche was founded in 2007 as Carte blanche Film GmbH. The company is located in Potsdam on the premises of Studios Babelsberg. Carte blanche specializes in the development and production of German-language film and television productions and high-end series. In addition, Carte blanche acts as a consultant and service production in Germany. Since 2014 Stephan Wagner is the sole shareholder and managing director. Since 2015 Carte blanche Film is also based in Cologne.
